Truckstop.net uses a robust network powered by Sprints with full T1 connections at every location. Using either a laptop or handheld device that is WIFI 802.11b and/or 802.11g (wireless card or chip) enabled, a driver can access the Internet or their corporate intranet at speeds up to 50 times faster than dial-up or DSL.

You need a laptop or handheld with WIFI 802.11b and/or 802.11g wireless capability. Your current device may already have built-in capability. If not, you can purchase a WIFI 802.11b and/or 802.11g wireless networking card or antenna for most laptops from the Travel Store at most Truckstop.net locations, electronics retailers, or direct from Truckstop.net. When your device is wireless-enabled, you will need to set your SSID (or network identifier) to "Truckstop.neT". Your wireless network card documentation will have specific instructions on how to make this change.

Truckstop.net has installed the infrastructure needed to provide WIFI access throughout your truck stop making available wireless access for you regardless of locality. With a correctly installed wireless network card, you launch your browser from within a the truck stop to receive a log-on page to type in your user name and password. The account information is verified, allowing you to connect to the Internet

Yes, If your fleet has made available a virtual private network (VPN) client and a firewall, you can access your fleets network. Truckstop.net strongly suggests that its customers take steps to make sure the security of their wireless connections meets their internal security guidelines. As with any wireless network, the Truckstop.net service is not inherently secure and you should ensure you have adequate security safeguards in place. The only software you will need is the software driver for your WIFI 802.11b and/or 802.11g wireless network card and an Internet-ready web browser. The Truckstop.net service requires no supplementary software.

You can sign up online today or visit a Truckstop.net truck stop, or if your laptop or handheld is already WIFI 802.11b and/or 802.11g enabled, you can also sign up by going into one our Truckstop.net truck stops, launching your browser and selecting the "Sign up" tab and following the instructions accordingly. Payments can be made by Credit Card online or by Pre-Paid user cards available at many truck stop locations.

If you are in a Truckstop.net location and your WIFI 802.11b and/or 802.11g wireless network card is properly installed, launch your browser. A Truckstop.net log-on screen will appear on your Laptop. Enter your user name and password. When your account information is validated, you will be connected to the Internet.
